Dear KT,
Thank you more than I can say to you and all the members of the Zonta Club of Washington for the spectacular reception the club hosted in September in honor of my becoming Zonta International president - the food, the program, the decorations, and most of all, the presence of so many dear friends. I had a wonderful time, and I hope everyone else did, too.
Please forgive me for this very belated thank you - I had intended to write to you much sooner, but I was out of town a good deal and then, as you know, I fell on October 20, breaking my left wrist and cracking my pelvis on the left side. As a result, I cannot put any weight on my left leg or use my left arm, so I am effectively home- and wheelchair-bound until the bones knit. The response from our club members has been simply incredible: flowers sent to the hospital, visits, notes, cards, dinners brought to my house, even a team of Zontians to respond to correspondence and file for me!
I am so very grateful to the members of our club! These last two months have been a remarkable reminder for me on what membership in the Zonta Club of Washington, D.C., really means - being part of a thoughtful, caring group of women who are committed to making the world a better place for women everywhere, including those right here!
Fondly,
Mary Ellen
